Sleeveface party in Cardiff, Wales with DJ Bob Stanley

Sleeveface party alert. Earlier this year we threw a massive Sleeveface party in our home town of Cardiff. The venue was the legendary Clwb Ifor Bach, which celebrates its 25th anniversay this year. Penblwydd hapus! / Happy birthday!

As anyone there will testify, it was a right monster. Parties are what we do really.

We’ve booked another one. Same time, same place.

This time the Sleeveface DJs will be joined by special guest, the mighty DJ Bob Stanley. You might know Bob Stanley as an integral part of the band Saint Etienne, a music journalist (he pretty much discovered the Manics and tonnes of other bands) and, importantly, a killer DJ of fabulous pop!

While Bob’s playing tunes, you’ll have a chance to try out Sleevefacing with our resident photographer, dance around like fury and also proclaim undying love for strangers you’ve only just met.

We can try a mass Sleeveface at some point, involving EVERYBODY. On that note, we have a stack of sleeves you can borrow so no need to bring any.

You Only Sleeve Twice

sean-connery

I nearly dropped my Corn Flakes when I heard about Sean Connery sleevefacing with his own book this week – in coverage of the Edinburgh Book Festival.

As you know, the guy has class. Another Sleeveface sighting and perhaps the best yet.

If you look at the cover of the book, Being A Scot, you’ll see his right hand on the chin (in the classic Changes Bowie style). You know, he could have done just a bit more work and got his hand behind – to line it up for the shot. Just saying.

Nice work though! It is believed to be the FIRST known instance of a former James Bond actor sleevefacing with his own newly published memoirs at a book festival.

* Alternative titles for this post… Sleevefinger… On Her Majesty’s Sleeveface Service (not a Connery one, but still)… Robin Hood Prince Of Sleeves (Connery played the king, remember)… Another Sleeve, Another Face…

Sister Ray

This one’s topical. This week, one of the finest record shops in the known universe – Sister Ray, of Berwick Street in London – went into administration.

We were in there recently getting some film footage on the day of our Sleeveface party in London. I’ve always known it to be a friendly and widely-stocked shop since my early excursions into vinyl.

It’s business as usual for now but they need a purchaser.

Can someone please step in with some cash and save it? Go on, fulfil a childhood dream. Thanks.
